1. 1815 Ref. 235, 38.5mm

A watch of character The new 1815 showcases classic design and intrinsic values With a 38.5-millimetre case and all of the unmistakable hallmarks of the A. Lange & Söhne style, the 1815 embodies the paradigmatic ideals of a sleek mechanical timekeepin...

Same old, same old

 By: mell0822 : January 20th, 2014-01:16
Same movement. Numeral "6" still got chopped off :( Would be better to leave the "6" out totally. But maybe with the smaller size, would have more ladies looking at it. Melvin

Miranda, you are wrong

 By: nice2guy : January 20th, 2014-07:16
Lange makes very high end, well finished watches. Don't think you have a crystal ball.

I totally 100% agree on the quality … but look at the diversity in the Patek catalogue

 By: Miranda : January 20th, 2014-09:58
That's what infuriates me about Lange Same old case…… That's why they will never compete

"Diversity" in the Lange and Patek Catalogs

 By: rld : January 20th, 2014-11:35
Miranda, I am not sure what you mean by "diversity" and what you mean by your opinion that Lange "will never compete" with Patek. Compete with respect to what? I admire and collect both brands. I guess I can agree with you that Lange "will never compete" ...

Once again, I actually do totally agree with you, I love zero reset for instance, or

double split, and if it appears that I have no admiration or respect, then tahts my fault for not being clear enough, Lange is one of the best watchmakers in the world. Infact my top three "traditional watchmakers"are Lange, Patek and JLC. what I meant by...

Lange smaller manufacturer

 By: nice2guy : January 20th, 2014-13:19
You say Lange will never compete with Patek because Patek has a larger diversity of cases. For me quantity is less important than quality. The diversity for Lange is in creativity. If someone wants to buy 5 Langes a year, I do agree after some years, ther...

Thanks Ken

for the detail report on ALS, which one is you choice ?

2. 1815 Tourbillon

 By: KIH : January 19th, 2014-23:25
Pure precision The 1815 TOURBILLON with stop-seconds mechanism and ZERO-RESET For the very first time, an A. Lange & Söhne timepiece unites the stop-seconds mechanism for the tourbillon with the ZERO-RESET function. The interaction between the two pat...

It feels strange to see this piece after having contemplating the 3 hands one for so long

By: Mark in Paris : January 20th, 2014-02:35
But I guess we'll get used to it. I thought the tourbillon window was really eating too much of the dial but from the other tourbillon (like the Tourbillon PLM), it's the same size. Should look really nice in the metal. Mark

Zero Reset and Stop Tourbillon !

By: Mark in Paris : January 20th, 2014-08:26
I heard before it was impossible to implement as it was to harsh for the tourbillon to stop that fast. Great job from ALS.

my best of show so far

 By: donizetti : January 20th, 2014-10:31
lovely dial and amazing to have that complication with a tourbillon. Kudos! Andreas

3. Grand Lange 1 Moonphase

 By: KIH : January 19th, 2014-23:54
(Previously announced) Let the moon hold the stage The GRAND LANGE 1 MOON PHASE tracks the lunar cycle The new GRAND LANGE 1 MOON PHASE gives the moon-phase display, which, by the way, is designed to remain accurate for 122.6 years, distinctive prominence...

Prefer its predecessor by far ...

 By: Marcus Hanke : January 20th, 2014-01:47
The moonphase window in the time dial makes the appearance too busy and compromises the legibility of the time. Marcus

Finally get to read the details on Lange's offering for SIHH 2014! Thanks for sharing Ken! I really like the new 1815 38.5mm, which is a perfect size for a dress watch (for my small wrist). Even though I really like the RL, I will still prefer sub 40mm fo...

Year after year . This is one manufacture, and probably the only manufacture, that can absolutely do no wrong ! The only manufacture where every single watch in the collection hits the right spot. Incredible. Dean

I wonder how..

 By: fernando : January 20th, 2014-06:55
many turns is needed to wind the watch using the crown? The good part is it's only required twice a month. Thanks for sharing so promptly these 2014 ALS novelties with us Ken. cheers fernando

This year Lange winner

By: Mark in Paris : January 20th, 2014-02:40
Well it is a 45.5 x 16 piece but it is really beautiful and very interesting technically. I guess they had difficulties in integrating the 2 registers on the dial, but I think i'll do in the flesh. The sky display seems awsome. Too bad it seems to be diff...

Thanks for additional info!

Even though this is way out of my league, I love the design and idea behind the watch, but 45x16.5 mm... It's mind blowing what is achieved these days, but I really dislike such proportions. I also love the grand complication, but I can't ever imagine wea...

love that complication

but the dial is not for me. Impressive but not the watch of my dreams. Best Andreas

Wow.

 By: jporos : January 20th, 2014-12:07
The layout of the subdials on the face and the off-center placement of the astronomical display at the rear to show the balance really make this one of the best perpetual/astronomical watches I have seen. Much better than the IWC Portuguese Siderale Scafu...

I immediately thought the same thing Marcus. I like Lange as well, but UN was way ahead on this indication. On 21 Jan, 2014, at 17:07, www watchprosite < w[Email address suppressed for privacy] > wrote:

1815 38.5 mm for the asian market and 1815 tourbi for the collectors

By: COUNT DE MONET : January 21st, 2014-05:21
Hi Ken, I very welcome the trend back to smaller sizes as the current 1815 in 40 mm is far too big looking. I am sure this smaller model is more the taste and simply what is physically tolerable for smaller wrists and the Asian market in particular. The 1...
