It is quite rare to see these two Zeitwerk at the same time.

Yesterday at the Lange boutique of Paris, I had the chance to handle the WG versions of the Zeitwerk and of the Zeitwerk Striking Time. As you know, the Striking Time has a 44,2mm case while the Zeitwerk has a 41,9mm one. You obviously feel the difference because with such sizes, every little mm counts.

Even if the Striking Time is a very important watch for Lange (it is after all the first contemporary Lange watch which strikes), my heart always prefer the "mere" Zeitwerk.

I find it more balanced and easier to wear on a daily basis.

The Striking Time on the wrist:

And the Zeitwerk:

Both watches together. As you can see below, the 2,3mm of difference are easily perceptible:

At first glance, the movements are very similar since the striking system is located dial side. But I appreciate to see a thinner back bezel on the Zeitwerk:

Both watches are great achievements by the Lange Manufacture. But I still have in my mind that Lange could have been more convincing with the Striking Time. I would not be 100% happy with a watch which plays, even au passage, one note per quarter. It is the reason why my vote goes to the Zeitwerk, for its intriguing beauty, its perfect design and its purpose fully dedicated to time display.

Thanks to the Lange Paris boutique.

I second FX's comments as to comfort and wearability. It is a great watch on the wrist. Visually it is unique. Of course, for me the black dial is a killer, but I really admire this watch for the movement and finish. I love looking at it. Finally setting ...

One note per quarter = stealthy...

The ZW ST's simplicity does have one clear advantage over multiple chimes: Playing one small note is extremely useful in many everyday settings, such as the office and the theater, where quiet and discretion are needed. The wearer hears one pleasant chime...

So beautiful report .....

I just noticed that the striking is bigger than regular Zietwerk. Many thanks for those awesome pics. Khalid

Achilles Heel...

The Achilles Heel of the Zeitwerk Striking Time is the strap width is rather thin. Look at Panerai watches. These watches are so big. Yet so comfortable and easy to wear. Compared to the IWC Big Pilot, there's a mountain of difference. Why? Because the Pa...
