What about the Richard Lange Pour Le Merite Tourbillon?
Aug 26, 2014,09:21 AM
That watch is just whimsical and fantastic. It's a fantasy, to have an active dial that opens and closes.
Beautiful article! I enjoyed all of it!
I know which one is my favorite...

The Richard Lange family
By: small-luxury-world : December 3rd, 2010-12:18
According to Oscar Wilde: “ My tastes are very simple – I like only the best. ” Connoisseurs and perfectionists are never satisfied with anything less than the best. Lange & Söhne is dedicated to a grand heritage. Observation watches are dedicated to high...
WOW Oliver

A great write up, thx for the effort! Now, somehow the normal RL in PT seems familiar ;-) Cheers, Dirk
Very interesting post, Oliver.
By: amanico : December 3rd, 2010-12:43
The only one which doesn't speak to me is the referenz uhr... Its unbalanced dial still leaves me cold, as when I saw it in Geneva, at the beginning of this year. To me, it is a kind of small " 31 days " which is far frm being my favourite Lange watch. No...
Excellent post Oliver.

This RL collection deserves it ! I'm sure that this collection hasn't unveiled all its potential and that more surprises will come... maybe with additional complications ? I would also like to see another Lange with a big second hand. At the end, I think ...
Superb write-up Oliver

As I've said many times before, the Richard Lange Pour Le Merite is my favorite timepeice from the entire A. Lange & Soehne collection. Thank you for the comprehensive report that categorizes the Richard Lange family.
A few then for you my brother

Do accept my sincerest apologies for having to always use the same photos over and over again, I have not been capturing my RL PLM on the film as of late. But please, enjoy your favourite watch, as I do mine. Have a great weekend brother! Stephen...
Elegance at its finest.

Many thanks Oliver...

for this detailed review of the RL family. I prefer the "simple" RL but I am easily pleased by the simple things in life. WG with black dial? My first impression is WOW! But my love for blued hands may be stronger. Thanks again. Regards, Richard.
Oh my... Oliver, great write-up!
By: KIH : December 3rd, 2010-16:06
I would love the black dial (preferably enamel!) RL and if they created one, I might consider.... Otherwise, even if I had deep pocket, I wouldn't be tempted due to the size. For me, it is too big on my wrist, unfortunately, VERY unfortunately.... Thank y...
Ein vielen Danke mein Perfekt Freund!

great read Oliver! However only
By: Mech : December 3rd, 2010-21:58
the original RL in PT sings to me unfortunately, I love all the quality movement and finishing of the rest of RL however they fail on dial cutoffs on my list, sorry. The original RL remains the only Lange on my List after the Datograph. Cheers Mech.
Mech you should give them a try!
By: BluNotte : December 3rd, 2010-23:29
Especially the PLM! I'm curious though, what do you mean by dial cutoff? Are you referring that the dials of the PLM and ReferenzUhr are not one-piece, but have the levels to them, and that is the no no for you? Thanks for sharing with me your opinion! St...
Don't get me wrong Stephen, everything about
By: Mech : December 4th, 2010-05:09
the PLM and all things Lange are top notch, as such it must be 100% perfect for me, including the dial design! When I said cutoff I'm referring to the sub-dials cutting into the marker/indexes. I'm just anal about these small little imperfection. The orig...
I get you now Mech!
By: BluNotte : December 6th, 2010-05:35
We all have the anal things in life! No worries , because i have my own that others regard me as insane for even having them! Cheers Stephen
Thanks Stephen for your understanding,

Would you be so kind as to explain what you find about the RL PLM being "too cold"? This is definitely a first that I have heard! I would love to know! Thanks for sharing! Stephen
It is just a matter of emotions Stephen..
By: moc : December 5th, 2010-03:08
I mean, objects, and in this case watches give emotions as you well know. The RL PLM is definetely a incredible watch, coveted by many, desired because of its technical merits and incredible finesse(chain and fusee, perfect finish, enamel dial an on and on......
Yes , indeed i do my friend
By: BluNotte : December 5th, 2010-04:27

the RL PLM T didn´t exist, because it was introduced in 2011 :-) To me it is a nice watch with some interesting features, but it is not tempting. The dial with a moving part is a nice feature, but I still would have prefered something more understated her...

Oliver, This may be the only time i can recall where my opinion on a piece differs from yours (at least when i am mumbling to myself reading your posts :) ). I agree with you the essense of the RL Tourby PLM may not fit with the characteristics of the RL ...
Wow, I didn't notice...
By: patrick_y : August 27th, 2014-19:51
I didn't notice we were revisiting a post from 2010! Yes, of course, the Tourbillon version wasn't out yet. Fully agree with you, the watch is not understated like the rest of the collection. I call the watch "fantastic" because I think the moving dial is...
