Lange Connoisseur Academy session in Singapore
Sep 19, 2014,09:49 AM
Yesterday I had the good fortune to be invited for a Lange Connoisseur Academy session and a Lange portrait session before that.
Lange Singapore really knows how to engage with their customers and bring us together to share and build upon our passion even more. Kudos to them!
I arrived at the venue and was half expecting to see watchmaking tools and benches etc... This is the famed Lange academy session I thought
Hmmm, the venue is a cooking school. Have I got it all wrong?
Anyway, I was whisked to the place to do my "Lange Portrait" first. The photographer was waiting for me. Now I know how a watch model feels! I had to pose, smile, pose, smile, pose and smile. After some time my mouth muscles were aching from all the smiles! All to showcase my Lange watches. I had my Lange 1 and Wongraph with me so both got some shots
Some photos to share here (pls don't laugh at my amateur "modeling" attempt!)

Tired eyes and mouth muscles by this last shot!
After this I went to the main venue area. True enough it would be a cooking class!! How interesting !
Before that, we had some cocktails and catchup amongst collectors. Some PuristS were there too and I finally got to meet various people after all these months! It was great to make some new friends and take some wrist shots with them
There was a technical presentation by the very knowledgable Joanne Lange on the mechanical marvels of Lange's constant force mechanisms found in say the Richard Lange Pour le Merite via fusee and chain, as well as the impressive Lange 31 with an impressive 31 (actually 32 but the Germans prefer to be prudent and state 31) days constant torque delivery. Some pics to share here on Joanne's sharing.
After this, we were asked to... Decorate cakes to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Lange 1. Thankfully the cakes were already baked and we had to decorate the cake and design our own Lange 1s. As I just got a Lange 1 in RG, I tried to recreate this version. Some of my friends did much better with moonphases and their own "Limited Edition" versions! Someone even tried to create the effect of a black mop dial Lange 1 cake! It was lots of fun surprisingly.
Finally dinner is ready. Some wristshots taken to share here. The food was extra delicious as we cooked them!
