It is a difficult question...

Both watches are great! The 1921 has a touch of originality the RL doesn't have. But the RL is for me the ultimate (if I don't take into account some independant watches) classic 3 hands watch... Listen to your heart... since you are thinking about the sw...

I do not

You have 2 "icons" IMHO (I know many advice here about 1st Dato). Keep a German and a Swiss. 2 different interpretations (culture) of high end watches. Cheers, Patrickh

Go German way! [nt]

You have two masterpieces. The 1921 and the Dato.

They are both superb representations of their individual brands, culture, and history. Keep the 1921. The Richard Lange will always be there and there will be another variation soon enough and you will always be able to acquire it. But once the 1921 goes ...

VC 1921

 By: radikaz : July 10th, 2014-03:41
One of my friend recently acquired the VC 1921, i was with him all the time while he was making the decision whether to pull the trigger. What's i had earned during his journey was, the VC 1921 is an extreme rare piece, they are made in very small quantit...

Depends on your preferences

Depends on your preference, but preferences change ;) On the open market today, the 1921 is valued slightly more than the RL, and will likely appreciate slightly more over time. If finances drive your preferences, I would say keep the VC. Also, if your pr...

I like them both...

Honestly, the VC is just cool. I don't own one either. And they're quite rare. However, it's not the most comfortable watch to wind though. The Richard Lange has one thing that bothers me. Look at the back of the movement and there is a tiny portion that ...

It's one of those false choices

 By: Mostel : July 22nd, 2014-22:57
As if the Lange can make you happier. It can't. When you have watches of this caliber, they can't beat each other in a contest of should I or shouldn't I trade this or that. If you trade the VC you will regret it, mainly because it is one of the very few ...

Almost poetic!

Thanks for sharing Mostel!

Yes!

I think that the Richard Lange is an ultra classic that is very close to perfection! It is sober, strict and oozes of quality. Weight, proportion and attention to detail. It is a Lange model made with total focus to optimal and accurate timekeeping. It is...

nope

That is my favorite vc

In the world called "enthusiasm" there is no "swapping".

If you can afford a VC 1921 and the new Dato at the same time you should not worry too much about money. If you do this out of efficiency reasons or with the thought not to put too much money into watches then forget this thinking. This thinking has no sp...

I would use

The reverse approach: if you had the Lange, would you swap it for the 1921? Someone suggested me this approach when I was doubting between my Moser Perpetual 1 and the Lange Lumen....as a result I have both now! ;) Let us know your choice! Cheers, Alex
