Incredibly gorgeous piece....
Jul 10, 2009,19:12 PM
I can't hold back any more!
I received the Datograph Perpetual WG about the same time as Craig and, like him, have been totally mesmerized by the watch.
The model is not new (see PeterCDE's brilliant post: Under the Hammer: "Datograph Perpetual in the Test Lab" in Oct 2008) - Lange simply changed the metal and some of the appearance and I won't repeat the technical specifications here. The new dial and moonphase, however, have done wonders and added a much more lively dimension to the watch.
The movement is made up of 556 parts, of which 223 are dedicated to the perpetual calendar.
Here are some lovely pictures taken by my friend. Enjoy.

And how gentlemanly of you to allow Craig a bit of time before presenting your new watch to the forum. Of course, the watch is a thing of beauty. Enjoy it, wear it in the best of health. Best, Jed

Thx. The delay was not deliberate I was traveling... Craig posted great pics too. The way he described his acquisition, the mind frame was very, very similar. Best Sam

Does your friend leverage on his photography skills professionally? If not, I think he should. I know nuts about photography but these just seem to have a depth, dimension and emotion if you will that jumps at you on first sight. I think he could make a l...

Not really Sam, but almost!

As mine is the Datograph, not the perpetual Dato... So, my influence is a bit limited! Best, my friend. Nicoas

What can I say Sam? Great minds think a like. This watch is a work of art, both aesthetically and technically. Congratulations on a wonderful acquisition. Moreover, kudos on some great photosgraphs (with your permission, I would like to borrow a couple). ...

Looks like we have similar tastes....if you can PM me with your email address, I can send you high resolution pics next week, and you can use them as wallpaper if you like... The Datograph Perpetual is definitely the best piece I ever owned and I am glad ...

what a "simple" change of the dial can do. Just beautiful. The grey couple works very well together Thanks for sharing. Oliver
Very nice indeed Sam!

Those pics. really do it justice.Tell us how it feels compared to the Langematik Perpetual. Must be such a pleasure operating the chrono pushers and feeling the smoothness of the winding mechanism.I am soo jealous Cheers Fernando
A mesmerising piece indeed Sam!

Congrats for this great watch, the new dial really enhances the beauty of the watch. My only concern about it is a small power reserve which is a pity for a perpetual watch. But it's a stunning watch. Fr.Xavier
The small power reserve is no problem . . . .
By: Craig LA : July 12th, 2009-11:27
with the one button synchronized advance of all calendar functions. This is an amazing feature that should be present on ALL perpetual calendars. Craig
Stunning movement.

It would be a perfect watch to me if the dial layout can be simpler. Regards Ling
