Collectors Market: FS: Patek Philippe 5711/1A

Beautiful Patek Philippe Nautilus Jumbo 5711/1A Stainless Steel watch. The watch has been meticulously cared for and is in beautiful condition. I purchased this watch new in July of 2008 just after it was delivered from Geneva. I have all the paperwork, box and could supply a copy of the original sa

Patek Philippe: DIY

I did it myself - and I'm not terribly handy. Look at the back of the clasp and you will see a springbar sitting in the notch of the band. You can take a jeweler's screwdriver (I used my Xacto knife) and gently pull the tip of the spring bar down to remove it. Once the springbar is out just cut the

Patek Philippe: Their business model

I don't have any deep insight into PP's business model, but I'd suspect the high prices on non-watch items has something to do with keeping their dealer channel happy (and profitable). I suspect most of their dealers only sell a PP watch once in a long while. While they get a great payday when that

Patek Philippe: Aquanaut

I'd choose my 5165. It can go business (Soros wears this) or sport. It's also light and comfortable.

Patek Philippe: Patek is in a tough spot here

I see this quite differently. I think Patek's hands are essentially tied here. If they don't update local prices to reflect current exchange rates then they will have a big arbitrage problem. That is, the grey market would run wild. Where the prices are essentially cheap, the grey market would buy u

Patek Philippe: It's a screw driver

I did almost the same thing. I put in a 1.5 link and then decided it was too tight. I went to the jeweler and he changed it right in front of me. He simply used a jeweler's screw driver. He did mention that tightening them was a bit tricky and I should check them from time to time to make sure they

Patek Philippe: Hedge

If you have a Patek on order, or are strongly considering one, why not hedge vs. the Swiss Franc? A very simple way to do this is purchase the ETF FXF. There are, of course, many more complex ways (e.g. FOREX).

Patek Philippe: Another thought

Hi, I have the 5711 and it is indeed very comfortable. If the flexibility is critical you might consider the 5167 Aquanaut. It is possible to switch between the bracelet and the tropical strap. Unfortunately, Patek changed the band attachment mechanism in the new models and the ADs can't do the swap

Collectors Market: WTB: Patek Philippe 5065 Aquanaut

Hi, I'm looking for a reasonably priced 5065 Aquanaut (the old Jumbo). It must have the original certificate of origin. Ideally it is recently serviced with both bracelet and tropical strap (with deployment). Thanks. This message has been edited by NW_Rich on 2011-01-03 21:44:12
