Lovely. But......

I should say I own this watch.  However there is one flaw.  The movement is too small for the case and dial.  As a result the small seconds indication is too far displaced toward the center of the dial.  That reflects a short cut that a brand like Patek should never take.  They should have re-done the 215 caliber to fit the case.  There is one brand that never takes this short cut....and that is Lange.  When they change the diameter of the case, they re-do the movement so that the proportions remain perfect.  I cannot excuse Patek for this short cut...even though I own the watch and appreciate all of its other qualities.

they have designed and replaced many new calibers lately, especially the chronograph-based movements, and even more so when we consider the other high-end traditional brands. Hence, the 215 is the last one that remains from the old era and that indeed nee...

as the small movement, the size of a US nickel coin, looks pretty puny in the huge 37 mm case. Remember this movement was first used in the 3796 which is 30.5 mm. Superb watch it was and remains to be. You do not know you have it on. (If you like that con...

It does take away credibility and it shows that it\'s not about pure dedication to horology. The watch is a real classic beauty, but as you said, it is unforgivable. All the very best, Alex

A lovely reference with true Patek DNA: Simple and very elegant with lots of class !

IMO It would even be better without the seconds sub-dial.

That would also help to disguise the short cut

I love this watch

The first time I saw it in the window of one of the PP dealers in Sydney my jaw dropped. Very charming

Your strap is too long - have it replaced with a shorter one. Also, this has never ever before discussed on any internet forum: The 5196's movement is "too small" for the case diameter.

Thanks Friend [nt]

Very nice. I am sure it will really look good with a tux and black tie. :-)
