LOG Dinner in Paris: pictorial report
May 31, 2011,13:13 PM
Yesterday was organized by the Lange & Söhne Western Europe Team the Lange Owner Group Dinner. It took place in the very nice and fine italian restaurant right in the center of Paris, a very convenient place for all the guests.
Actually, they were all excited by the ability to discover the 2011 novelties. As you can imagine, the event was an impressive gathering of past and present Lange timepieces.
The event was perfectly organized by Lucia and Jacques from Lange and was very appreciated. So on behalf of all attendees, I would like to thank them a lot for this great dinner.
I propose you to browse the pictures now.
A) The place
The place was very charming, we had the feeling to be in Rome! And we also had an italian weather, the temperature was quite hot! Maybe it was due to the presence of all the Lange watches!
B) Atmosphere
Good friends, superb watches... excellent dinner, what else could we expect?
The meeting was at the Bar:
The charm of the ladies:
Lucia and Jacques explain the main features of the new Lange watches:
Guess why I was so happy during the event ?
Santé Richard!
A singer is going upstairs... an homage to the Zeitwerk Acoustic? We enjoyed her performance!
C) The Menu
Rita, the owner of the restaurant, deciced to invite us to a journey in the italian gastronomy. Each course was subtle...
D) The 2011 novelties
The 2011 collection can be divived into 3 parts:
- the new Saxonia collection
- the Zeitwerk Acoustisque
- the Richard Lange Tourbillon PLM
5 new calibers were unveiled at the SIHH, mostly with an increasing power reserve. All the new automatic caliber feature a central rotor.
Let's start with the Saxonia collection.
I already explained you the details which were brought in order to redefine the collection. These details are slight but when you gather them all, the new Saxonia look quite different from the previous version: thinner bezel, shape of the lugs, inclined frange, some details on the dial, a more handy crown.
A new complication was presented with the Saxonia Dual Time and a new aesthetical approach with the Saxonia Thin.
My fav one is without any doubt the Saxonia Thin which is very elegant, slender. I'm less convinced by the Saxonia Automatic which doesn't use the 3/4 rotor anymore... which is a pity. Yes, the new caliber has a better power reserve but this watch only needs a few seconds to be set at the right time. And there is no date display. So a beautiful Sax-O-Mat could have been used again. Well, that's my point of view.
Saxonia Thin:
3 new Saxonia:
You recognize the Automatic which has a larger small second subdial and bigger indexes:
Handwind Saxonia. The watch uses the same caliber than the previous 1815:
Automatic Saxonia:
And its central rotor movement:
The Saxonia Dual Time:
Perfect on my wrist! I like the complication, less the pushers on the left. Anyway, the watch is a worthy move of the Saxonia collection to a more complicated offer and joins the Saxonia Annual Calendar in this segment.
The Zeitwerk Acoustisque was of course displayed. The extra 2mm are ok for me. I consider this watch as the first step by Lange into the striking watches world. We know (and wish) that more surprises will come during the next years... The good point about the Acoustique is that it strikes "au passage" and fully takes advantage of the power of the Zeitwerk movement. But we expect more from Lange.
A Zeitwerk remains a Zeitwerk... I mean an intriguing watch on the wrist, an unique design.
Richard Lange Tourbillon PLM.
The watch is the meeting point of 3 worlds.
Accuracy: Toubillon
Regularity: Chaîne & Fusée system
Mechanics: the moving dial
It is a bit a paradoxical watch. It creates a trouble (the dial bridge over the Tourbillon) and the cure (the moving dial). At the end, it is a fascinating watch.
My fav 2011 novelty from Lange:
E) Watches brought by the guests
The guests didn't come with empty pockets as you can imagine. Let's browse some of these watches!
Pt Zeitwerk:
With an 1815 chronograph:
Uhmmmmm....
Langematik Perpetual. Please Mr Lange, keep the 3/4 rotor for this watch, please!
Pt Datograph:
Langematik Anniversary:
A rare Lange 1 with blued hands:
Another rare one, a Cabaret with a dark blue dial:
New 1815:
Old (right) vs new (left) handwind Saxonia (37mm):
With these two Saxonia, I put an end to my report.
Again, I would like to thank a lot the Lange team for this superb organization, Allan and Richard for the big help, Rita from the restaurant Il Settimo in Paris and the staff: this event was great... and it was a true pleasure for all guests to spend the evening in this friendly and warm atmosphere.
Kudos to the Lange team!
