A great Novelty for sure. The first time I discover the Zeitwerk I was very impressed, too big for my taste but kind of "haute horlogerie" Panerai if I may say. I mean a huge presence, a strong identity that nothing can compare to it, but with the Lange S... 

As I own a JLC MMR Ti, which is O, 2 mm smaller, but 1 mm thicker... But I see mine as a concept Watch... So, I won't criticize the Lange Zeitwerk for that. A very technical Watch, and for once, original, too. Best, Nicolas

The power reserve was a surprise to me when I read the specifications of this watch. It incorporates some interesting safety tech. Aesthetically, I feel it is as good as possible. Platinum, as you say, is not ideal for the chiming, but this is a Lange aft...

One more question - does the Zeitwerk Minute Repeater have an instantaneous jumping minute disc as compared to the other Zeitwerk models? Has Lange improved the movement on that? I like everything about the watch except for the price :)

On previous ZW models, at about 56-57 seconds, the minutes disc would "jump" downwards just a tiny bit, in preparation for its big (and always instantaneous) jump upwards at precisely 60 seconds. Supposedly the ZW MR's movement does not "jump" downwards a... 

I noticed this too in the video where Anthony was demonstrating the watch.. The little jerk has been removed.. I hope they can implement this in the base zeitwerk as well..

I'm sure the sound of the final watch will be in line with Lange expectations. And yes I expected more than 36 hours power reserve. What I don't like is the resemblance to Striking Time. Constantin

I have heard ALS had a prototype with Romans when the Zeitwerk was first developed, but they decided against production. Cheers, -- Richard.

I'm glad ALS rose to the occasion and came out with this MR which a few have hinted and asked for. Now with this out of the way they can continue to producing fine timepieces for the rest of us. :) Best fernando

Disappointment... And one of the most expensive one. ;) Let's wait and hear the definitve Watch... As for the AP, I heard that the new marvel was not totally ready, and that the sound of its minute rpeeater was .... Registered. Can you tell us more about ... 

as that would be malapropos here in the Lange forum. Suffice it to say, I know very well memories of sound, like colors and sight, unlike smell, are very fleeting and subject to memory artifacts (read: distort over time) This is why I (nearly) always have...

Putting aside the all-important issue of the quality of the sound, I can't say I'm blown away by the new MR. It's huge, for one....Lange doesn't seem able or more likely willing to make complications with reasonably-sized cases. I think they should.

Once Lange has improved the Minute Repeater a bit, I'd be curious if it's about the same volume as the platinum Striking Time, or if the Minute Repeater will be louder. [I assume the Minute Repeater isn't softer.]

... not really disappointing, but certainly, I hope, Lange could do better. It's a start. I just hope they make smaller, more "Lange" minute repeater down the road at the price point we would feel "we get what we pay for". Ken

Nicolas - thank you for taking the time to writeup the watch. I used to own a Lange Zeitwerk Luminous. I think all the Lange Zeitwerk suffer from several serious design flaws: Firstly the watch is too heavy in Platinum. It just does not feel right on the ... 

I have to say that for a few seconds, I thought that Vacheron made THE Chronograph... Till I saw this bloody PR indicator, at 6, which ruins all the Watch... For me. Best, Nicolas

Nicolas- what bothers you exactly: the Position of the PR indicator or the that there is a PR indicator to Beginn with? I actually find the PR very useful. I got rid of my Lange Datograph as it kept stopping time as I forgot to wind it......

Nicolas in principle I agree with you. BUT you said vintage looking. And here is the difference. It is only vintage inspired it is NOT a vintage watch. Modern watches should have all the great advances of technology and movements including a PR indicator....

So then the solution is- redesign the movement. They did with the Lange 1. For the prices Lange demands- their watches have to be perfect also in design asymmetry. The crown in that position is not perfect and bothers many purists (not only myself). E

In my country - nothing is impossible. The Europeans should learn from this ;)

But most of the things you really like (at least those I know) are from Europe, aren´t they :-)

I think this watch is a triumph! Consider what it means to build a minute repeater on the Zeitwerk base. Throw out all ideas about standard constructions. They don't work with a digital time display. So Lange had to create an entirely new kind of construc...
