Experimenting with different strap combos for the Breguet Tradition 7027

Dec 03, 2023,10:07 AM

I've been of the opinion the Tradition series would be more versatile than one might think with respect to different strap options. As I mentioned in an earlier post I removed the screw bars in favour of quick release straps in order to put this to the test (we've covered the risks of doing so in that thread which are understood and accepted, lets not go over it again!). I've gotten a bunch of new straps from Delugs and been trying them out. Not all of these options are going to be to everyone's tastes but hey I'm having fun with these. I admit some of these are more successful than others.

Starting off with the loudest combo here, the cobalt blue Barenia. A very supple strap supposedly from the same tannery Hermes gets theirs. The electric blue might actually be a bit much. I do like it on my Nomos weltzeit though.

I was really quite interested in this purple alligator. I was a little fearful it might be just a bit too much but in practice the purple colour is not that wild and actually seems to suit my skin tone quite well. The result is funky but not excessive in my opinion. These pictures in good light show off the strap at its most vibrant. I think this might be one of my favourites.

Couple of more classic combos which I already posted earlier, Green and Navy gators. I had been wearing the green a lot although I meant it more for the GO Panograph when I bought it.

Pictured with some German friends, going casual with a blue Crazy Horse strap.

Light grey epsom here

This waxy green strap works unsurprisingly well after having worn the green gator. But a much more casual vibe here.

Delugs calls this the Stormy Seashore and it seems similar to Saffiano leather.

And finally the "Mudflaps" strap for a very dressed down look

For comparison, the original black strap the watch came with. Certainly a handsome but safe combination.

Hope people found this interesting at least and perhaps even provided some food for thought for the more experimentally minded among you smile

But I agree they are interesting combos, I will probably try one of the two tomorrow.

Yes, please do so.

Hmm the name is an explanation for the inspiration behind the movement architecture

I dont see it as an order to obey... ymmv.

The purple would not be for me but it works!

I think I remember insisting in the last thread that the green alligator was the winner, but I'm also *really* digging the 'mudflaps'. Keep having fun with this!

Its a cool looking strap but I was considering it for some less dressy watches initially

But then I saw Delugs illustrated it on their website with a Lange 1815 in RG and I thought it might be nice with the Breguet too, and it seems to have been a good choice

Both turned out very nicely I agree,

although Im happy with most of the options other than cobalt blue (but thats ok as it looks great with some of my other watches).

I really do enjoy switching things up

Hopefully Breguet will expand their own quick change system to more of their models as most people aren't willing to dispense with the screw bars.

Indeed more manufacturers should do it

Very cool to see how the piece changes here!

I like the aubergine, navy and green.

Excellent choices!

The neutrality of the yellow gold/silver tones really open the lugs to many color ways. I’m really liking the Mud Flaps!

These are all great looking.

But the purple alligator is so cool !!

Thanks for viewing! And yes those two choices seem to be particularly popular with the readers here.

I am spoilt for choice though with most of these combos.

Thank you! Its always interesting to try these experiments,

sometimes they might not work, and other times you are greatly rewarded as I felt I was here.

Hello tempocalypse! The La Tradition is a beloved watch for me and so I´m a bit biassed saying that all colors look beautiful with this watch. Not easy to choose just one among so many...

... different color options. Probably I would go for the blue croc, the purple croc and the waxy green for a more casual/sporty wear. Of course this matter of type and colors of straps is a very personal thing when considering them. The owner must decide ...

It might be default but the black does play very well with that dial.

Of course its always interesting to try something new. Though of course I favour YG myself, that RG is absolutely stunning too, thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for your kind comments. Agree with you, black looks good but a bit "serious". I like to add a touch of color and informality to a formal watch.
