I would be upset too. I'm surprised by the responses of fellow purists

Fine finishing and perfection is part of the pleasure in owning a Patek Philippe. I enjoy looking at my watches using a 10X loupe, how else are we to admire the fine finishing we're paying such a premium for? Most mechanical watches keep excellent time, but no brand commands the price of a Patek.
Flaws are a rare exception and it's certainly reasonable to be disappointed when your example isn't up to standards.
I agree that scratches are simply part of ownership and one should enjoy wearing their watch. The scratches we create are part of the character of the watch. It's what makes it our watch and adds to the piece. But flaws from the manufacture are unacceptable.
What is the point to compare brand X vs brand Y if we are not scrutinizing the finish and quality? It's part of what makes fine watch collecting fun, the expectation of perfection, the magical feeling of wearing something that is truly a work of art.
Patek Philippe shouldn't be given a break here. They don't give us a break when it comes to prices and long wait times for delivery. Again, this is part of the fun, but we are waiting for something special, not a watch with flaws.
In my opinion, Patek should offer you a new watch or at minimum compensate the dealer an amount where they can buy this one back at a reasonable price and allow you to order another. Owning a Patek is a visceral experience and they have tarnished the experience for you.
There is nothing so special about an Aquanaut aside from it's finish. It's a simple time only steel watch if you take away the Patek standards of quality.
Now someone else will be the unlucky recipient of a poor example. The watch should be removed from the market, so each and every Patek meets the standards they promote with such passion.
