... Superb! Both the introduction and explanation about the meaning of the sophisticated complication of the dead seconds feature, the awesome photography, etc. everything exceeded my expectations about what you were to reveal us when you announced yesterday that JLC was giving a surprise today.
This is a wonderful presentation which I really enjoyed both reading and viewing. I thank you so much for all the effort and dedication put on this antological post!
Now for the watches, first thing that surprises me is JLC having introduced these two watches within the Geophysic line. I personally wouldn´t do that, as there was only one classic Geo in 1958, and the Tribute has done its honors to it with high colors last year. I feel these watches could do for a complete new line or to form part of another established JLC line but not the Geophysics. Just a personal view of course, and it is not big deal anyway.
I appreciate the effort of a complication like the dead seconds, but if I would chose one of these two watches, the one which really atracts me is the Universal Time. As you know I´m very fond of this complication. The new JLC watch has a wonderful look, specially with the map, the blue sea, etc. which makes for a very attractive and cool option for me, specially the steel cased version.
There are two details though, that I´m not sure about: the fixed cities names ring is one of them, beign acustomed to my GP UT and the PP UT with its rotating feature which I feel is more practical and quick to read. Of course I understand that a rotating ring would brake the correspondence with the map, but...
The second detail I don´t like at all, are the two little screws on the dial. This is something I can´t really accept in a quality watch and a brand like JLC. Of course my technical knowledge of horology is nil, and you explained why they are there, but I can´t think of something like these ugly screw heads against the beauty of an stunning dial like this one. I´m sorry for saying this, but it is my feeling just looking at your awesome pictures these screws do not belong to it. May be I need to view the watch in the flesh to see if the screw heads are so distracting as I see them here.
Again, just my humble personal point of view.
In any case, I appreciate the novelty and efforts of JLC for offering new products to their followers, and indeed this is something to applaud.
I thank you again for sharing this one of a kind presentation and send you my best cordial regards.
Un abrazo afectuoso Nicolas!
Abel.
